SACRED SPACE AT NOON
PRAY WITH US EVERY MONDAY AT NOON
Join us every Monday at noon to pray for our movement. This idea began with the Bring Back Our Girls prayer initiative. As we heard from sisters across the country and beyond who had prayed for the girls from Nigeria in June 2014, we realized that there is a need for us to unite on a regular basis in prayer. We ARE Church Women UNITED -- in action, in celebration, in friendship, and most especially in PRAYER. So take the time to continue to pray for our young sisters in nigeria and the ongoing violence there, as well as other concerns in your community and the world. Thanks to Vera Lander in Arizona for suggesting this.
Stay tuned by liking our page on Facebook! Inspiring quotes are posted every Monday to welcome members of our community into this practice of prayer.
FELLOWSHIP OF THE LEAST COIN
ABOUT FELLOWSHIP OF THE LEAST COIN
The International Fellowship of the Least Coin (IFLC) is a worldwide ecumenical movement of prayer for peace and reconciliation. Persons in this movement mae a commitment to spend time in prayer, and to uphold in prayer others who are victims of jealousy, hatred, violence, and injustice to the family, community, nation, and the world. Every time one prays, she sets aside a "least coin" of her currency as a tangible token of her prayer. Church Women United is the custodian for FLC in the United States.
THE FELLOWSHIP OF THE LEAST COIN PRAYER
O loving Creator, we present ourselves in your divine presence to thank you for all the bountiful gifts of life. e are especially grateful for the Fellowship of Least Coin which binds us together in love and forgiveness around the globe. Free us from all doubts and prejudices, we pray. Inspire us to live in solidarity with humankind that we may know the joy of giving and receiving. Dear God, accept the least coin "token of love." Make us mindful of the miracles of these coins. Let us honor your creation with love, as shown through the life and resurrection of your son, Jesus the Christ. Amen.
THE WELLSPRINGS SERIES OF BOOKLETS LEADS WOMEN TO GATHER IN SMALL GROUPS TO BE REFRESHED TOGETHER BY THE LIVING WORD.
"Perhaps you have heard the story about a Nigerian woman who became somber when she was told that most North American women had water piped into their homes. 'How do the women speak to one another?' she asked. 'If I didn't talk with the women at the village well, I wouldn't know about their lives.'"
These words from the cover of Volume XVI of Wellsprings clearly give the purpose for "Wells Groups." If we do not come together, how can we possible know our sisters? Whether you have been part of a "Wells Group" in the past or experiencing it for the first time all you need is a Bible, a group of women, and a willingness to listen and learn from one another.
There are several editions of Wellsprings available for purchase. The most recent is Return to the Well, Strengthening Families Worldwide in the 21st Century.
WOMAN, WATER, AND WORSHIP
Woman, Water, and Worship is a forthcoming publication that explores how women of faith are united through the symbolism of water. This publication is a project of Church Women United (CWU), an ecumenical Christian organization with roots going back to World War II. Women, Water, & Worship is CWU’s first publication project that is geared towards interfaith communities of women, not merely ecumenical Christian gatherings. We invite you to take part in this watershed project!
