The 2024 - 2028 Quadrennial Priorities
THEME: Priorities of the Heart
Introduction: For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. Ephesians 2:10 (NIV)
With the above scripture in mind, we are focused on priorities of the heart. Since we should be “living a loving, faith-filled, purpose-driven life… [with] God leading the way,” 1 we should be concerned that every person is afforded the opportunity to have basic human needs met. Therefore, priorities for the 2024-2028 Quadrennial will focus on Peace, Freedom, Education and Housing. These are the basics of human need that everyone should be able to access regardless of any differences we all may have.
● Peace is important to our individual selves, our families, communities, nations, and the world. Our inner peace is the origin of extending peace to all other areas of our lives. If we as individuals aim to be in a state of well-being, emotional balance, and acceptance of self and others, then peace can be realized in our world.
● From a constitutional perspective, there is a system of modern day slavery and involuntary servitude that has been a growing global concern for decades: the system of human trafficking.
● The growing concern for our educational system is that all public schools are not equipped with the newest relevant curriculum standards and overall provisions for students.
● Housing concerns are multifaceted with several of the greatest concerns including affordable housing, inflation/financing, and homelessness.
These priorities identify what the Bible states about the concerns and problems and offer a societal perspective. Also, each priority includes action steps that can be used to address the concerns and provides resources for further reference.
Ending Prayer
Lord God, grant us a vision of Your world as Your love would have it:
a world where the weak are protected, and none go hungry or poor;
a world where the riches of creation are shared, and everyone can enjoy them;
a world where different races and cultures live in harmony and mutual respect;
a world where peace is built with justice, and justice is guided by love.
Give us the inspiration and courage to build it, through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Fill the hearts of humankind with the fire of Your love and with the desire to ensure justice for all.
By sharing the good things You give us, may we secure equality for all our brothers and sisters throughout the world.
May there be an end to division, strife, and war. May there be a dawning of a truly human society built on love and peace.
We ask this in the Precious and Powerful Name of Jesus Christ Our Lord. Amen.
